Start your Jacobs career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow.

Thriving communities. Healthy cities. A brighter future. At Jacobs, we’re putting our knowledge and imagination together to shape the next generation of innovative transportation solutions, especially in public transit. If you want to join a company invested in you, your success, and the global community then join us as a Transit Planner.

When you join us, you’ll lead or support a variety of transit plans including corridor planning studies, feasibility studies, service planning studies, long-range plans and other plans/programs. We’ll ask you to analyze data about demographics, land use, transit ridership and performance, and transportation assets. Also, you’ll collect, analyze, map, and interpret data for use in planning studies, reports, and public outreach materials.

Utilizing that data, you will prepare graphics, tables, and charts about existing and future conditions for reports and presentations. Your technical knowledge will be showcased while you develop concept plans for bus stops, dedicated bus lanes, and other transit infrastructure improvements.

We’ll ask you to write/edit memos, white papers, guidelines and standards manuals, technical reports, final reports, and other documents. You’ll have the opportunity to research transit industry trends and best practices, interview transit agency staff about recent projects, and synthesize recommendations in technical reports and presentations. Then, we’ll have you document and report findings as well as provide recommendations about transportation needs and concepts to clients and stakeholders.

You’ll grow professionally when you evaluate the feasibility of various transit improvements in coordination with engineers then communicate with and present to clients, project stakeholders, and the public. In this role, you’ll also continue growing our transit planning practice by developing proposals, drafting scopes of work, and creating and managing project budgets. Depending on the project, you may supervise and direct junior staff, coordinate subconsultant teammates, or lead a small team.

At Jacobs, we’re partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. By joining Jacobs, you’ll commit to supporting and engaging with these teams, as we work to build a company like no other.
